_brakeHEAD_ consists largely of varying shifts of white noise accompanied by mesmerising industrial drones and ritualistic percussion. There is a bit of voice, but this is purely marginal. Superficially, this could be regarded as the nosier response to ritual ambient label mates Combative Alignment. However, they lack the overriding ritual atmosphere, although no less capable of hypnotizing the listener with their endless drones. Most of the tracks are fairly short, but their is one monstrous twenty minute track.

Personal favourite is "Asphalt Flowers", which is darker and more oppressive than the other three numbers; I wish this had been the main focus of the album. Malignant may only release a few albums each year, but they make sure they count.
