Like much of the output on the Sadolust label, this is black metal true to the original spirit (no gothic impediments present) that provides an enjoyable ride without being particularly groundbreaking. The blasting sections tend towards the generic, at times reminiscent of Immortal's furious _Pure Holocaust_, and Galgeras are clearly at their best when they proceed at a more sedate pace. This is particularly noticeable on "Through the Eye of Formoria", which draws in the listener with their sedate rolling riffs and keep him (or her) there with a beautiful solo. They aren't giving Yngwie a run for his money, but it fits into the songs and acts as a more effective tension breaker than simply letting loose with a scream. The weakest point is an interlude of keys over a persistent ritualistic drumbeat -- so far so predictable -- but the vocalist croaking over this serene passage simply does not work.

For those who like their black metal grim without being necro, and for whom originality isn't much of an issue, this is wholeheartedly recommended.
