Bosque's half consists of sporadic drumming, with rambling, downtuned guitars, some despondent acoustics and either growled / screamed vocals or almost indistinct background singing. The compositions are long and appear almost aimless, as if structure and purpose are alien to the place they come from. As Bosque fade away and Senthil start sending messages into your skull, a change becomes apparent: noise effects surround the doom guitars and comparatively busier percussion. Various howls and rather disturbing hair-tearing screams soon punctuate Senthil's demented soundscape, leaving no doubt from the start that this is going to be no more accessible than the first half. Where Bosque seem introvert and isolated, Senthil seem downright insane.

Pale Horse's first release is one miserably unfriedly slab of doom metal, devoid of any embellishments whatsoever. Both Bosque and Senthil achieve what I imagine are their personal goals to a higher degree than a 6 out of 10 would indicate, but the listener also needs to be factored in when coming up with a rating. It all does get hard to deal with, and for my taste its ratio of over-the-top extremity to only average musical inspiration does not garner more than just curiosity -- considerable and well deserved though that curiosity may be.

If you're looking for melody, nice production or careful musicianship, then you definitely need to look elsewhere. Not everything has to follow the same standards however, and if you're interested in deseperate, primal doom metal, then this demands attention.
