Pathogen - _Bloodline_
(Prime Cuts, 2005)
by: Quentin Kalis (7.5 out of 10)
Although I am not familiar with Prime Cuts Music, I have a strong suspicion that Pathogen is -- or will be -- their flagship band, and with the fluxion of time and progression in songwriting, they may well be a formidable force in years to come. For now, they present a surprisingly agreeable variant of melodeath melded with a groove -- inexplicably compared to the overrated Pantera -- and a maturity of songwriting unexpected from a band so young (both in terms of its existence and the age of its constituent members). My opening comment is based on hearing the first half of the CD, which showcases some fine material; they quickly lose steam however, with the result that the latter half is far less impressive. Definitely a band to watch for the future.
