Now Dimmu Borgir's Shagrath joins the ever-growing number of moonlighting metallers, and if his day job's continued black metal cred is a topic for debate, then Chrome Division is several light years away from winning the elitist vote. Still, for the more open-minded, the album starts off with a bang. More Motorhead than Mayhem, "Serial Killer" is a full-on, beer-soaked orgy of galloping drums, infectious riffing and a chorus that demands to be played at unsociable volume levels. Unfortunately, it takes at least another four songs before anything of remotely similar quality is unleashed, but then the operative noun here is fun. In the end, the only problem is that the band seemingly ends up having more of it than the listener.
