Notwithstanding the fact that _Out for Blood_ marks yet another comeback release in a seemingly neverending slew that's seen everyone from Death Angel to Stryper creep out of the woodwork over the last few years, it's good to see Sadus back in action. With _Out for Blood_ marking their first work to the see the light of day in as long as seven years, the Californian thrashers surprisingly betray no obvious signs of ring-rust either. Darren Travis' riffing is still as biting and sharp as ever, comfortably holding its own against some of the best in the scene. Likewise, Steve DiGeorgio's glittering bass work remains one of the band's greatest assets, and as you'd expect it's been quite glaringly brought forward in the mix. For the duration of the record, the trio wisely play to their strengths, even when they toy with the odd leftfield idea as they do on the title track and the stunning "Cursed". This certainly does the trick and makes for an intensely engaging listen, that almost means that one can overlook the fact that for the most part, the lyric sheet on _Out for Blood_ reads like an affectionate caricature of some of metal's most embarrassingly juvenile moments. Then again, if lyrics were ever to become a indicator of quality in this genre, then extreme music as a whole would have been in deep trouble.
