But none of this should be seen as negative, any more then screechy vocals, trebly guitars, poor production and a less than flawless performance would be considered problematic for black metal. Harsh and punishing music is what Brighter Death Now exist for, and they succeed admirably.

This is not the most intense noise album -- Eastern contemporaries such as Merzbow are less forgiving in their aural assaults -- but it is more accessible. Of course this will not be to everyone's taste; but whoever said that a rewarding listen should be an easy one? If you want melody and more conventional songs, pick up the latest melodeath instead.
