Must Missa - _Target of Hate_
(Nailboard Records, 2005)
by: Jackie Smit (5 out of 10)
Billing themselves as a blend of black metal and thrash, Must Missa share more than a few common traits with the likes of Destruction. With a staunch admiration for the days when white hi-top sneakers, disturbingly tight jeans and Suicidal Tendencies baseball caps were the fashion accessories of choice for the true headbanger, _The Target of Hate_ on more than one occasion comes across as a less intricate and musically complex _Eternal Devastation_; not necessarily a good thing if you consider the somewhat blunt nature of that record. Though the technical proficiency plugging away on tracks like "Madness Reigns" and "Holy Disease" is clearly quite impressive, rarely does any track on this effort amount to more than a dull slab of repetitive riffing, laughably juvenile lyrics and vocals that best remain confined to the early '80s. What this unfortunately means is that no matter how sincere this Estonian trio's intentions, _The Target of Hate_ is an album that's unlikely to go past five spins in most CD players -- unless of course you still listen to Tankard on a regular basis.
