Oh dear. _Lifetime Supply of Guilt_ is one of -those- albums. You know the ones I'm talking about; they start off like a house on fire and seem to whither into just so much background droning with each passing song. To their credit, the first half of The Duskfall's Nuclear Blast debut is nothing short of fantastic. Melodic death metal by definition rather than association, "Trust Is Overrated" kicks things into high gear with a two minutes of utterly intense pummeling; like At the Gates on PCP. "The Shallow End" maintains the solid momentum, cutting through swathes of chunky thrashing with the subtlest hint of melody. But after five songs, The Duskfall have run out of surprises, and while the tail-end of the record isn't necessarily substandard, it certainly doesn't get the senses tingling to the same extent as material from the first half.
