Considering this quartet's national heritage, I'll try my hand at saying this in French: "Pourquoi la baise est vous pas les gars ont signé?" That, my English friends, roughly translates to: "Why the fuck aren't these guys signed?" [Which in turn translates to, ahem, proper French as: "Mais putain, pourquoi est-ce que ces gusses ne sont pas signés?" --ed] My pretentious stab at sounding cultured aside, there is absolutely nothing genteel about Anorma's savage, groove-intensive attack. Imagine Cryptopsy re-imagined through Pro-Pain's brand of barefaced hardcore with a healthy dose of Meshuggah-like off-kilter melody stirred in for good measure, and you'll begin to approach a clear idea of the exact nature of this record's 41-minute sonic pummeling. Of course these days, such a comparison could recall one of countless acts pretending to forge a path of musical innovation, but where Anorma manage to separate themselves to the n-th degree is through subtle nuances like the unusual sounding melodies of "Fat" and the haunting discordance of "Death / Anger". All of which lead me to believe that unless the unforeseen happens, we shall be hearing plenty more about these Frenchmen very, very soon.
