Ewigheim perform that breed of music that is often grouped under what is usually referred to as "gothic metal", and they possess more than a few similarities with others often placed in this category, such as Moonspell and later Tiamat. As expected, the vocals are clearly enunciated, but this is irrelevant for anyone in the English-speaking world, as all the vocals are in German. While this may not be a hindrance in the world of, say, necro black metal, Ewigheim do create the impression that they have something to say, and being unable to understand what they are singing about does affect one's appreciation of the record. This is especially noticeable on "Odem", which is essentially a ballad and is the best song on the album, alongside the beautiful piano piece which bookends the CD. But apart from those standout moments, the rest of the CD is frankly quite boring. Although not as bad as Entwine, they display similar predictability in song progression and structure and a similar lack of inspiration, making this an incredibly mundane release.
