Aceldama - _Blood_
(Mother Noise Records, 1996)

I first saw the flyer for this band at a local music store. I was interested because it was a local metal band. The flyer said they were influenced by King Diamond, Slayer, and Sepultura. I have not heard any Slayer or Selputura so I was skeptical. I have a Mercyful Fate album that I thought was rather good. At first I thought they were descent but they later create a brutal yet beautiful atmosphere. The vocals range from low grunting to James Hetfield barking to King Diamond high screeches. They have fairly good production, clean lows and highs. They also put in some keyboards that create the mystical atmosphere. The only bad thing I have to say about the album would be the lack of interesting beats by the drummer. If I could say something to the band it would be to the drummer, "Learn a new beat bud!" It's very monotonous, even more than "generic" death metal. Overall it's a good album for $10.
