Postmortem - _Storm Force_
(Morbid Records, 2000)
by: Pedro Azevedo (3 out of 10)
Postmortem's attempts at a sort of watered-down, somewhat electronically tinged "death 'n' roll" fall quite short of ever being successful in the duration of this MCD. _Storm Force_ is mostly a collection of uninspired riffs, very poor vocals, annoying electronic sounds, mediocre use of a drum machine and a remarkable lack of ability to stand out and seize your attention. The result is redundant and uninteresting both for the absence of musical direction and its lacklustre execution. Well, at least they seem to give up their attempts to get people dancing early on the MCD, so most of it is at least a relief -- even if a somewhat mediocre one -- after the start of the record. Of course variety can be a good thing, but in my view Postmortem need to make up their mind as far as what style they want to play and then actually try to be good at it. Overall, this is a rather redundant collection of material that generally fails to present any real reasons why it should be noticed.
