Pressure 4-5 - _Antechnology_
(Dripping Records, 1999)

Let us all welcome a new member to the already booming breed of new metal. Here is Pressure 4-5. Please, hold your applause, metalheads. While I have been, and continue to be, a strong supporter of bands like Deftones, Korn, Slipknot and Rage Against the Machine, I have found most of these, the other new breed metal bands like Snot, Incubus and the like, just plain boring. It all sounds the same. All the bands are playing the same riffs, just shuffled around a bit. There is no real movement within what they are doing. And to me, Pressure 4-5 fall into this category of musicians. Sure there is some melody and a booming hardcore/metallic edge, but how does this Californian act differ from all of the other crap that has over the years sprouted from out west? It is starting to get old. I just wish all of these new breed metal bands would add some flare to their sometimes-vibrant edge. Good examples of bands that have the right idea? earthtone9 and Cave-In.
