Much like their other metal brethren from Quebec, Oblivion and Gorguts, Horifixion like to play their music fast and technical. The music is vibrant and the guitar riffs are to die for. But why the low marks? The four-song offering from Horifixion radiates within a realm of repetition, whereas bands like Oblivion and Gorguts (who do it with pure finesse) aim to strike fast and hard, but at the same time mix things up. While those acts come off with glorious results, Horifixion fall back into a pack of yesteryear's speed/technical metal aficionados. It is not bad to be lumped into the past, but it should be key to strive forth at times with modernization and crafty ideals. Horifixion deal out the damage, but rarely keep the assault ongoing. Choice cut: "Deserted Landscape".
