Abdullah - _Snake Lord_
(Independent, 1999)
by: Adrian Bromley (9 out of 10)
I'm betting many doom metal fans who come across this superb Black Sabbath / doom-laden release will be smiling for days. Maybe weeks? With just two guys -- Jeff Sherilla and Alan Seibert -- pushing all the right buttons, it doesn't take long for Abdullah to get the party going. From the opener sway of "The Path of Enlightment" onto "Firmament" and "Sickness Unto Death", it is quite obvious these guys still live and breathe the wicked past of Sabbath. Their realm of gargantuan ear-fuzzing material is made of loud guitars, awesome vocals and some of the heaviest doses of music to storm at you in a while. This is monster doom metal from the mid-west and it should not be ignored.
