Bewitched - _At the Gates of Hell_
(Osmose, 1999)
by: Paul Schwarz (6 out of 10)
Bewitched are mildly difficult to judge. They -are- almost entirely unoriginal in their retro-melodic-thrash tirades and possess no godly songwriting talents. However, were one deprived of the likes of Venom, Slayer, Possessed, Manowar, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and "the rest", Bewitched -would- be a listenable and enjoyable reflection of these bands' talents, and they also do an amusing cover of Thor's "Let the Blood Run Red", with Thor himself on vocals. However, when all is said and done, Bewitched do their thing quite well, but plenty of other, better artists did it all long before, and many with considerably more style. Personally, I'd recommend listening to, or buying, if you haven't yet purchased them, "the classics" before giving up your cash for unoriginal contemporary attempts at playing long-existent styles of music.
