Immiserate - _Immiserate_
by: Yulon Zhu (no rating)
Well, a new The Black Dahlia Murder CD by Immiserate is out now for public consumption. This young Seattle band is nothing special, with the same formula of death metal that MTV feeds off of. With _Immiserate_, this five-headed hydra is as re-done as the Shakespearean tragedy "Romeo and Juliet". Brian Hodgson's vocals are the low growls mixed with high screams combo, while the rest of the band work in the breakdown factory with Sam Murphy hammering down blast beats, Black Wolf and Jeremiah Ratledge manufacturing catchy, fast guitar rhythms and Kusha Karimi's bass guitar blending into the bass drum. The mention of a factory is of no coincidence, since the phrase "factory-made metal" will immediately pop into your head. For those who like bands like The Black Dahlia Murder, the Devil Wears Prada, As Blood Runs Black, Osiris, Whitechapel and Beyond the Horizon, you'll find that _Immiserate_ will sit more than happily alongside the other CDs in your collection. The ferocity is there, the bone-crushing beats are ever-present, but the originality lacks. From "Hell Breach" to "Vitriolic Trucculence", it's all reminiscent of basically every other band playing this style of death metal. This album will appeal to a lot of people despite its copied sound, but to anyone who doesn't enjoy this brand of metal, it's overkill and will just end in a lot of sighing.
