Unleash - _Wake_
by: Daniel Cairns (1.5 out of 5)
Well, let's have a round of applause for Unleash, who've sent me perhaps the most piss-soddenly generic demo I've ever received. It's... well, it's fucking Lamb of God, isn't it? The singer sounds like Randy Blythe, and the music backing him is the same generic thrash that his band have been peddling since they went shit about five years ago.

There is nothing to them. Seriously. It beggars belief. There's a whole world of music out there, with a million genres to investigate, dive into and garner inspiration from, and the best they can come up with is this?

Please excuse me while I address the band personally...

Chaps, I don't get it. You obviously want to get signed and make a career out of this, or you wouldn't be sending us your music. You have a well produced demo, and you can obviously play your instruments... so why the fuck are you copying a shit band?!

To be honest, I'm not too bothered about the plagiarism. If you'd bothered ripping off a decent band, I wouldn't be so bamboozled. If you sounded like Death or Cannibal Corpse or Meshuggah I would have at least enjoyed it a little bit. But no! Of all the bands in the world, you choose to rip off Lamb of God, who themselves have been ripping off other bands poorly for their entire career. You have left me no choice. There is no way I can be at all positive now.

Unleash are basically wrong. They make all the right noises at all the right times, and that's why you should give them a wide berth. It's nothing but moshpit fodder, designed for lunkheads to push each other around to. If that's your bag, you're welcome to them; but you know, if you have a brain and like music that isn't bordering on the precarious fringes of retardation, steer clear. One listen and you'll feel your brain cells slam dancing about your cerebellum, rendering you so thick that you can watch that new Wolverine film and enjoy it.
