Misanthropia - _The Suffering Within_
by: Quentin Kalis (2 out of 5)
Misanthropia is yet another demo of furious and remorseless Nordic iciness, using Darkthrone's seminal classic _Under a Funeral Moon_ as a point of departure, a far more atmospheric and morbid work than the over hyped simplicity of _Transilvanian Hunger_ or the unabashed Celtic Frost worship of _A Blaze in the Northern Sky_.

Fast and furious riffs are abrogated in favour of a mid-paced plod, hinting at a restrained fury, rather than giving it full reign, and accompanied by lucid bass. Misanthropia do not possess many ideas, but whilst such focused simplicity can be a positive, this idea has been revisited by far too many others -- some more and some less talented than Misanthropia -- for this to be anything more than a temporary diversion.
