Bosque - _Dead Nature_
by: Pedro Azevedo (3.5 out of 5)
Portuguese doom metal act Bosque make one thing perfectly clear right from the beginning: this is not romantic doom metal. Take away the very limited production on this demo and the low bitrate of the version I am reviewing, and their style is still anything but tender. This is tortured, crawling-through-the-mire doom, with despondent, crashing drums leading the guitar dirges and sparse, mostly spoken vocals. Given the feeling and songwriting ability on display, it seems clear that tighter musicianship and stronger production is all this band needs to move forward. Someone needs to hear through these current limitations, find the potential that lies waiting to be uncovered and give this band a chance to succeed; as far as I am concerned, there is enough in this demo to justify that.
