Deride - _Demo 99_
by: Pedro Azevedo (3 out of 5)
Deride's list of musical influences consists of Pantera, Deftones, Sepultura, Fear Factory and Faith No More, which should give you a pretty accurate idea of what these three tracks are about. The playing is tight, the production is adequate and the vocals are both varied and competent -- still, some of the harsher vocal styles could have been better, while the clean vocals are reasonably well performed. However, some of their influences tend to shine through too much, which subtracts from both the originality and interest of the music. If these Norwegians can manage to filter their influences better in the future and find a more consistent style of their own, they certainly seem to have enough musicianship to make something more interesting. As it is, these tracks are still reasonably enjoyable, besides well played, and could be worth downloading, especially for fans of the aforementioned bands. In any case, you won't have to pay anything to download them in MP3 format (44 kHz, 128 kb/s); just follow the link below.
