Iron Fire - _To the Grave_
(Napalm, 2009)
by: Quentin Kalis (8 out of 10)
If the very thought of Manowar, Hammerfall and Dragonforce has an emetic effect, you might not want to read further, but would be advised to do so. Apart from the undeniable fact that I like as many people as possible to read my writings, Iron Fire produce a melodic power metal album that yours truly fully enjoyed -- someone who would normally run screaming from such upbeat and catchy songs with catchier choruses. It need not be said that the musicianship is not problematic; it can be technical without descending into guitar school histrionics, although the vocalist does have his limitations. OK, there are a few moments which could be excised, like the shout-along "Metal! Metal!" but there are no major problems with _To the Grave_. Overall, this is a catchier, better arranged and more consistent album than its predecessor. They will remain a guilty pleasure though, but everyone needs and has at least one.
