Scars - _The Nether Hell_
(Independent, 2005)
by: Quentin Kalis (7.5 out of 10)
This is a concept album -- the "nether hell" is the lowest part of Hades, a frozen place where all feeling died, and the booklet is aptly adorned with illustrations from Dante's timeless classic "Divina Commedia".

Musically, it hardly requires the proverbial rocket scientist to deduce that Scars do not place too much emphasis on creating a highly original opus, as _The Nether Hell_ is essentially a tribute to classic thrash -- think Exodus and Slayer at their peak with a bit of German thrash and a trace of death tossed into the mix.

The music is competently and energetically performed and the production is surprisingly good for an independent release. _The Nether Hell_ will, at the very least, make for an enjoyable listen. Whether it will survive repeated listens depends on the listener's predisposition towards thrash revisions.
