Dim Mak's third album is still closely tied to their past endeavors, joining groovy hooks with a furious assemblage of riffs that echoes their death metal origins in Ripping Corpse. Vocals are talk-barked hardcore style over chaotic peels and guitar pinches, octaves doubled into elastic sound lashings in the school of Morbid Angel, Monstrosity and Hate Eternal. The addition of John Longstreth propels Dim Mak to new levels of speed and brutality, but the overriding tone is dense and feels monotonous as it pushes some over the top technical aspects of the day (notice the label). Meanwhile, frequent drifts toward eastern melody serve to disperse the chaos, opening into excellent harmonic leads, and with none other than Eric Rutan behind production, the sum of these efforts no longer sounds like a blender full of mud.
