Audrey Horne - _No Hay Banda_
(Candlelight Records, 2005)
by: Jackie Smit (4 out of 10)
You've got to be kidding me. Members of Gorgoroth and Enslaved (among others) channel their creative energy in unison and this is what they come up with? To be fair, _No Hay Banda_ was never going to be reminiscent of any of its members' more misanthropic musical leanings -- this much was made clear by the numerous overblown press releases that preceeded it. But even by the alterna-rock standards it attempts to emulate however, songs like "Get a Rope" and "Confessions & Alchohol" don't quite cut the mustard. This is post-HIM goth pomp at its most bovine, concocted by a group of musicians who have clearly had more than their fill of living in squalor. I'm just not sure what to shake my head at most: that certain other media sources have actually been taken in by this drivel, or that people would go as far as to compare Audrey Horne to Faith No More -- a band whose collective boots this sextet could not lace on their best day.
