Belef - _Infection Purification_
(Candlelight Records, 2005)
by: Jackie Smit (6 out of 10)
_Infection Purification_ queues up behind the ever-expanding line of bands who ply their trade by regurgitating black and death metal licks that were essentially yesterday's news over a decade ago. Making absolutely no bones of their fondness for old school speed and brutality, Belef tear through fifty five minutes of carefully orchestrated, crisply produced chaos. That they don't possess the creative faculties to pull this style off with the same blood-drenched panache as, say, a band like Disiplin is besides the point and a matter of opinion. For my money, Belef's main problem is that for the most the part, _Infection Purification_ consists of a glut of five minute songs that were spawned from two minutes worth of ideas.
