Blatant Disregard - _Waging War in the Center_
(Slay the Sun, 2000)
by: Adrian Bromley (8 out of 10)
Now this is the kind of hardcore/metal music that I like: very hard-hitting and, most importantly, confrontational. Arizona quartet Blatant Disregard have managed to work up enough angst, aggression and stamina to propel this six-song release into a heavy, face-pummelling experience. The vocal cries of singer Dion Bozman, when matched with the solid drive of the band's hardcore deliverance, are unbearable. Those in the pit (the ones left standing) will no doubt love the band's material. Few independent bands out there really make a good first impression, but these guys did. If there was one thing wrong with this material, I'd have to say not enough songs to keep their assault on us going. Oh well, here is hoping for a full-length release next time.
